Our campaign to invite Durbanites to spend a unique Valentine’s evening at the stadium seeing the sights, sunset and stars – with the SkyCar staying open until 9pm – was an absolute hit!

One loved up gentleman put a ring on it when he proposed to his girlfriend on the platform at the top of the arch with the city lights twinkling behind them.  Vishnu Naicker had been looking for the perfect idea and opportunity to ask Ishara Maharaj to marry him. He was looking for something “original and different”, he said. Luckily, a couple of weeks ahead of Valentine’s Day he saw our adverts about the SkyCar being open late on Valentine’s Day and thought it would be “a brilliant opportunity to propose on Valentine’s Day”.

“We went to Cuba Lounge first, and then went to the SkyCar and were given roses and champagne… the moment was just perfect. I had the ring in my pocket. We then went up the SkyCar and the breathtaking views were amazing. At the top, I went down on my knees and said to Ishara that my love is unconditional and it was love at sight and asked her to marry me,” he said.

Vishnu presented Ishara with an oval-shaped diamond ring and said: “She was so shocked… people were congratulating us and I think that just everything swept her off her feet and she had to say yes!”

“Moses Mabhida Stadium is just so beautiful, everything was so perfect, the atmosphere, the people, I’m actually lost for words…  last night was the best time of my life. It was like another world, it was the perfect night with stars in the sky and so romantic. I’d like to thank the stadium and the staff for the most wonderful evening.”

Another couple, who were celebrating their anniversary, arrived with a little music box and slow jammed to their favourite tunes on the sky platform.

More than 500 people took the scenic trip up the arch and then filled the restaurants for dinners and cocktails on an absolutely sublime summer evening. All the ladies were surprised with red roses with compliments of the stadium.

Feel the MMS love!
