Johannesburg, South Africa – The 19-time English Premier League Champions will square off against two top South African sides in The MTN Football Invitational that will take place in the coastal cities of Durban and Cape Town in July.
On the 18th of July, the English glamour club will play a match against AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Preceding the match will be a soccer clinic, giving Durban’s township youth a chance to rub shoulders with some of the legends of the game and part some of their experience to the youngsters of KZN.
“We are thrilled to have the heroes of the English Premier League return to our shores for what will be an exhilarating challenge between ManUTD and our local teams. This is going to be a real treat for the local Manchester United fans as well as the South African Footballing community,” says Lyndon Barends, CEO, Primedia Sport.
“This match falls on the 94th birthday celebrations of Nelson Mandela. We urge everyone to set aside 90+4 minutes to do some community service as well as joining us in singing Happy Birthday to Madiba just before kick off at Moses Mabhida Stadium and Cape Town Stadium,” said Barends.
In collaboration with LeadSA & Shout initiative a special Happy Birthday Song will be sung for Madiba at the stadium, and fans are urged join in and set new standards for the amount of people singing Happy Birthday to an individual.
