For the first time, the Comrades Marathon concluded outside Durban’s iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium, specifically at People’s Park. This change replaced the traditional finish at Kingsmead Cricket Stadium, offering a more expansive and accessible area for supporters and participants alike. The finish line was set up on Masabalala Yengwa Avenue, featuring grandstands for spectators, hospitality zones, and designated spaces for running club tents, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.

Extended Challenge: 89.98km Down Run

The 2025 edition presented runners with a slightly longer course, measuring 89.98 kilometers. This adjustment was due to the new finish location and made the race approximately 2.3 kilometers longer than the previous down run in 2023. The route maintained its traditional start at Pietermaritzburg City Hall, guiding runners through the scenic and challenging terrain of KwaZulu-Natal.

Record Participation and Enhanced Logistics

A record number of over 22,000 runners registered for the event, prompting organizers to implement a two-wave start system to alleviate congestion and improve safety. The first group commenced at 5:45 AM, followed by the second at 6:00 AM, ensuring better visibility and smoother flow throughout the race.

🏆 Champions of 2025
