People’s Park

People’s Park hosted many corporate in the hospitality village during the FIFA World Cup marquees and since been used as the finish for the annual Amashova Cycle Race and Spar Ladies Race with food stalls, hospitality, kids activities and lots of people picnicking and playing on the lawns.

It has also become a popular venue for concerts such as the East Coast Radio Durban Day music festival, MTN Fact Durban Rocks as well as private company functions featuring bands, such as Prime Circle, and cultural events.

The stadium’s home team AmaZulu Football Club practices on one of two training fields also used by a local touch rugby league.

This green space to the south of the stadium offers a haven of trees, lawns and picnic spots. Other elements include:

Heroes’ Walk, which commemorates great South African sportspeople

  • Moses Mabhida Square with cascading water features, indigenous trees, extensive grassed areas and sufficient space for small concerts
  • Two training fields with change-rooms and ablution blocks
  • A 1km circular track for walking, jogging or cycling
